Yelena Sokolovskaya and her family moved to U.S. from Ukraine when she was nine years old, still holding on to the roots of her culture while at the same time appreciating the new. Over the years she has become fascinated with sacred geometry, mysticism, and philosophy. She also experimented with mixed media, including modular origami, digital design and photography.
Her first job was working in a photography lab and digital printing which enriched her understanding of color and composition. In college she took up life drawing but ended up having a real estate career for almost two decades. Moving to Utah had inspired her to get back into painting and permaculture.
"Many of us forget or put off doing things that really make us happy. True prosperity comes from engaging in what matters in life. I will never let go of creating art and working with the land. I live and breathe it, see and feel it in expression and in the patterns of nature and human emotion. Here, I share a little piece of me."
