The late Jim Jones is one of the most renowned painters of the Southern Utah region, and is well-known for his paintings of Zion Canyon, the Grand Canyon and the Colorado Plateau. Painted in 2009.
From the owners of the painting:
It is with heavy heart we’ve decided to sell an original commissioned Jimmie Jones painting.
We lived on Trees Ranch, adjacent to Zion National Park, Utah for a time and, during this time, we became friends with Jimmie. Jimmie had a lovely home studio that was perched on the top of a mesa. And, from this spot he overlooked our home, the valley and canyon walls, and all it’s boundless beauty. We commissioned him to capture this beauty from his perspective.
Our original conversation took place in the fall of 2004, at which he said he was busy with other pieces and would get back with us at another time. Fast forward to the spring of 2006, when at a dinner, he asked if we were still interested in a commissioned piece; we confirmed we were most definitely still interested. Time passed, and throughout our encounters, it was rarely discussed, until we received a call in September 2009 asking we pay him a visit. At which, he unveiled a most personal and beautifully framed painting for us. A few days later we paid another visit to make the exchange for the signed, and personally inscribed 12”x10”, piece. Sadly, Jimmie passed away only a couple of months later, making this one of his final completed pieces of art.
