Gaylene studied art at University of Northern Iowa, and earned a B.S. degree in Art Education at Southern Utah University. After graduation, she quickly became involved in painting and sculpting, accepting commissions nationally.
In the mountains and deserts of Southern Utah, she fell in love with the spectacular warm light, and the immense space and quiet. “Here, pale stone begins to glow like fire as the sun’s light transforms it. Clouds reflect the red sandstone below. When I observe the glorious work of our creator, my heart is filled with such awe and joy that I want to share these brief moments of beauty with others.”
“As I begin a painting, I follow the inherent rhythm of line and form, like music.” Previous studies in watercolor and bronze sculpture have influenced her vision as she interprets landscapes in oil.
