Frank was 19 years old when he fell in love with landscape painting in Point Lobos, National Reserve near Carmel California. He became spellbound by the beauty of the ocean looking over a cliff and every worry and care in the world left him.
"One thing has remained constant throughout the years is the continuous excitement of finding something interesting to paint. I find that the most important part of painting is the scene, comfort is not important. I have been on a freeway overpasses and had my easel blown off the bridge and there were times I’ve painted in freezing cold where the watercolor would freeze on contact with paper just to get a color study.
